We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Analytics team in Helsinki and take the Trust & Safety team's data and analytics capabilities to the next level. You’ll work with different internal stakeholders across teams and external partners to help the team deliver highly impactful projects that will contribute to a better and safer experience for hundreds of millions of players who love our games daily.
We are a small and multidisciplinary team with a big job to do - make sure our players are safe and that the competitive spaces are fair. A big part of the day-to-day work will consist of designing and implementing new ways for us to utilize the vast amounts of data we have, be it by utilizing data mining, statistical analysis or machine learning approaches. You will be in a key role in defining what the data landscape for the Trust and Safety team will look like!
A bit about you:
You have a strong background in data and analytics, and good understanding about software development practices. You feel at home when designing and implementing analytics and data science projects from the ground up. You can effortlessly communicate about your work with technical and non-technical colleagues both within and across team boundaries. You take ownership of your work and always strive towards focusing on the projects that have the biggest impact. You might have previous experience in the area of Trust & Safety, and you are able to understand what kind of data and insights a gaming company requires in this domain.
Responsibilities
Analyzing user behavior and game data to identify patterns that lead to cheating and abuse
Developing algorithms and models to detect and prevent fraud, cheating, and other malicious activities
Using data visualization tools to inform and support decision making, and communicating clear insights to stakeholders
Proactively provide actionable insights and shed light and analyze player behaviors, threats and vulnerabilities
Together with the rest of the team, develop vision and strategy for continuous improvement of Trust and Safety services
Communicate data and insights to both technologically savy and non-technological stakeholders
Take ownership and implement analytics and data science projects
Support the Trust and Safety team and game teams with analytical needs related to players safety, moderation, fair play, etc.
Working with a multidisciplinary team of trust and safety specialists, software engineers and other data experts
Requirements
3+ years of relevant experience in a Data Scientist or Analyst role, interpreting and visualizing data to provide actionable insight and conclusions on player behavior
Expert knowledge of SQL
Familiarity with R or Python and its most popular visualization and data analysis libraries
Knowledge of modern data processing tools and cloud providers and their tools
Experience with machine learning and statistical modeling techniques
Eager to learn new tools and technologies as well
Trust and safety domain knowledge
Comfortable working in an international, fast-paced, challenging and stimulating organization
Solid communication skills - Both written and oral, with the ability to explain complex analytical results to stakeholders at all levels
Passion for games, player safety and wellbeing as well as improving overall player experience
Proactivity and a curious mind
